ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Truman State Women's basketball team was taken down by the Lewis Flyers 71-57 on Thursday night.
Lewis outscored Truman 40-24 in the first-half, with Ellie Weltha scoring half of the Bulldogs' points. As a team, Truman shot 8-24 from the field at 1-10 from three. The Flyers shot 14-31 overall and 8-16 from three.
In the third quarter, the Bulldogs scored 23 to the Lewis' 17 to go into the final quarter down 10.
Truman had a hard time shooting the three in the fourth quarter, going 0-5 behind the arc and 4-13 from the field. The Bulldogs were outscored 14-10 in the last period.
Molly Joyce had a game-high 20 points on 8-16 shooting. She went 2-9 from three and made both of her free throws. Joyce also had four rebounds, an assist, and two steals.
Ellie Weltha recorded a double-double, dropping 18 with 10 rebounds. Weltha shot 4-6 and went 10-10 from the free throw line.
Maddie Niemeier was Truman's other double-digit scorer, scoring 15 with nine boards.
The Bulldogs play next at UINDY on Saturday, February 10th, at 12:30 p.m. (ET).
