KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Truman State baseball won in dramatic fashion in their home opener, defeating Northern State with a walk-off sacrifice fly.
The Wolves got on the board in the bottom of the second with an RBI double.
Truman State tied it up four innings later when Tal Dean drove Will From home with a single to right field. Dakota Joggerst gave the Bulldogs the lead when a two-RBI double from Dakota Joggerst, and Oliver Degenhardt hit a an RBI-double of his own to bring in Joggerst.
Northern State tied the game 4-4 with a three-run home run in the top of the seventh inning.
In the bottom of the ninth, Dakota Joggerst, Tyler Tieman, and Luke Roussel all reached base. Will Fromm hit a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Joggerst, and the Bulldogs won the game.
Dakota Joggerst led the team in RBI with two, going 1-3 at the plate with two runs.
Dylan Thompson and Oliver Degenhardt both had two hits.
Degenhardt, Tal Dean, and Will Fromm all recorded RBI.
Isaac Epp started the game, going 7.0 innings with six strikeouts to two walks. He allowed four earned runs and eight hits.
Justin Maloney threw an inning, striking out one with no runs.
Jaren Guck took the win with a shutout ninth inning.
The Bulldogs are now 2-9 overall and play Northern State tomorrow at noon and 3 p.m., then Sunday at 11 a.m.
