ST. LOUIS - The "Distance Dogs" of Truman State joined hundreds of other distance runners and competed in the Washington (Mo.) University Distance Carnival on Friday.
Cora Stimpson, Breanna Mathes and Ellie Webb ran in the women's 10,000-meter run with Stimpson achieving a personal best in the race by completing it in 38:38.80, which was fifth in her section and 38th overall. Mathes was 18th in her section at 39:49.68 and Webb, running her first collegiate 10K, finished in 42:27.93.
Ryan Harness finished the men's 10K at 33:09.99 which was nearly four-tenths away from a personal best.
In the 5,000-meter run, Kate Yates was 87th overall with a time of 18:47.21 while Emma Schultz set a PR with a time of 19:33.37.
The men had five runners in the 5K with two achieving PRs. Brennan Ulrich ran 17:03.84 and Nick Guess ran 17:42.52. Gavin Hill was the fastest 'Dog in the race at 15:55.60, followed by Evan AuBuchon at 16:09.81 and Josh Engle at 17:07.63.
Truman State will host the Truman Invitational next week at Stokes Stadium/Gardner Track. The meet will kick off on Thursday with the men's and women's discus throw then continue on Friday with field events starting at 11 a.m. and running at 1 p.m.
