Bulldogs Drop Both Games Of Competitive Doubleheader

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Truman State Bulldogs dropped both games of a doubleheader against Missouri S&T 9-7 and 4-1.

Game One:

S&T took a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning but an Oliver Degenhardt RBI single in the bottom of the inning made it a 3-1 game.

The Miners hit a grand slam the following inning to go up 7-1.

The Bulldogs plated five in the second to cut the S&T lead to one. Tal Dean, Luke Turner, and Dylan Thompson all had RBI singles and Luke Turner scored on a fielder's choice.

A Miner home run in the fourth gave S&T a two-run lead, but the Bulldogs were able to get another back with a Tyler Tieman sacrifice fly.

Missouri S&T scored the final run of the game in the fifth with a single to right, and the Miners would go on to win 9-7.

Tal Dean went 3-5 with two RBI and two runs.

Dylan Thompson and Will Fromm had two-hit games, with Thompson doubling along with an RBI and a run and Fromm scored.

Luke Turner had a hit and an RBI, Oliver Degenhardt drove two in, and Tyler Tieman had an RBI as well.

Degenhardt and Colin Mueth also stole a base in the game.

Alex Leary took the loss after giving up seven runs, six being earned.

Zachry Schneider threw 4.0 innings with four strikeouts, one walk, and one earned run.

Brian Bruxvoort threw a shutout inning, allowing one hit.

Game Two:

There was less offense in the second game of the doubleheader, with Truman scoring the first run of the game in the fourth inning off a Tyler Tieman RBI single.

Missouri S&T then went on to rally and scored a run in the fifth to tie it up. The Miners then went on to score three more times in the top of the seventh and won the ballgame 4-1.

Dylan Thompson, Dakota Joggerst, and Tyler Tieman had Truman's three hits, with Joggerst scoring once and Tieman having an RBI plus a walk.

Tal Dean, and Luke Roussel were also walked.

Jordan Marlott threw 5.0 innings with one run allowed, four strikeouts, and three walks.

Brian Bruxvoort threw another inning of shutout ball, allowing a hit.

Jaren Guck took the loss, allowing two earned runs.

Justin Maloney got the only batter he faced out.

The Bulldogs and Miners finish the series tomorrow at noon.
