EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. –
Jacob Morris won the Hammer and Discus and was runner-up in the Shot Put as the Bulldog Track & Field teams stopped at the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Cougar Invite on Saturday.
Morris had his best throw in the Hammer come in the fifth round as he tossed the device 59.06 meters to win over Eastern Illinois' Bradley Olysav (58.77m). In the Discus, Morris got two marks and both counted to secure the win in that event. His second attempt was 52.63 meters to earn three more attempts and on his fourth, he posted the winning mark of 52.85 meters. His last mark in the Shot Put was his best to finish second at 15.95 meters.
Kelly Hoskins set a new personal record in the Long Jump and tied his PR in the Pole Vault. Hoskins went 6.32 meters for a fifth place finish in the Long Jump and cleared his previous best height on his first attempt in the Pole Vault of 4.45 meters. He attempted 4.55 meter and finished in third place.
Vada Moore set PRs in the same two events on the women's side. She flew 5.09 meters in the Long Jump and went over 1.44 meters on her second attempt in the High Jump. Her along with teammate Esme Aubuchon finished tied for seventh.
In total, 15 Bulldogs exceeded marks set from previously during the weekend.

Kendra Zeilstra posted their fastest times in the 1500-meter run.
Raina Baker ran 59.15 in the 400-meter dash,
Audrey Gilmore ran 1:09.28 in the 400-meter hurdles and
Destiny Zimdars set a PR in the Hammer (44.90m).
Men's PRs were by Dan Hahn in the 1500-meter run,
Brycen Compton in the 400-meter dash,
Alex Long in the Shot Put,
Leithym Messer in the Hammer Throw while Jacob Gutzman ran 32:45.18 in the 10,000-meter run and
Brennan Ulrich 15:34.30 in the 5000-meter run at the Mount Mercy Mustang Distance Carnival on Friday night.
Selected Bulldogs will compete next weekend at the Kansas Relays.
