KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Lewis Flyers downed the Truman Softball team on Saturday by a pair of 9-0 results. The Bulldogs return to action on Sunday for Senior Day against the nationally-ranked University of Indianapolis at noon.
The Bulldogs had a chance to strike first on the day but stranded two runners in the bottom of the first inning. It remained scoreless until Lewis sent 10 hitters to the plate in the third inning and scored five runs. They added a solo home run in the fourth and pushed across three in the fifth.
Lewis got a two-out single in the top of the first in game two then used a grand slam to add four runs in the third inning. The Flyers scored three more in the fourth an one in the fifth.
The Bulldogs were held to three hits and stranded only two runners, both coming in the bottom of the fifth inning.
