KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - 14 Truman State seniors were celebrated in the final home baseball game of the season.
The William Jewell Cardinals started the game strong, scoring seven runs in the first and second innings to go up 7-0.
In the bottom of the second, Will Fromm hit an RBI double to right center that brought Oliver Degenhardt home to make it a 7-1 ballgame.
The Cardinals scored three more in the top of the fourth before Dakota Joggerst and Fromm hit home runs to cut the William Jewell lead to six. Joggerst's was a solo home run and Fromm drove himself and and Kevin Donohue in.
No more runs were scored until the top of the ninth, when William Jewell plated another to win the last game of the series 11-4.
Will Fromm had a memorable final game at Bulldog Baseball Park, going 3-4 with three RBI and a run.
Luke Turner, Dakota Joggerst, and Oliver Degenhardt had two-hit games at the plate. Turner swiped a bag, Joggerst had an RBI and a run, and Degenhardt scored and stole a base.
Tal Dean and Colin Mueth had Truman's other two hits. Mueth had another game with multiple steals and walked once.
Kevin Donohue was hitless but was walked once and scored a run.
PJ Jerszynski reached on a walk.
Nate Bartlett took the loss, striking out three with two walks.
Zachry Schneider threw 5.2 solid innings with one strikeout, one walk, and three earned runs.
Justin Maloney threw an inning of shutout ball, walking one with two hits.
Evan Still threw the ninth, striking out a batter with one earned run.
