MANKATO, Minn. - The Truman State Volleyball team debuted in Mankato, Minnesota with a match against the University of Wisconsin Parkside on Thursday. After winning the opening set, UWP claimed the next three to take the match 3-1. The Bulldogs will play the host Minnesota State Mavericks at noon on Friday and Northern Michigan at 4 p.m. on Friday.
The Bulldogs claimed the opening set 25-22 but a six-point run in the second set spurred the Rangers into the lead. They would take the second stanza 25-19. A 14-2 run by UWP in the third set dealt Truman State a 25-11 loss.
Truman had two set points in the fourth set but could not close force the fifth as UWP rallied and won the set and match 27-25.
Jessica Proszenyak led the Bulldogs with 11 kills and four service aces. Michaela Goad added nine kills with two blocks and a team-high 16 digs. Makayla Way led with four blocks while Emma Baierl contributed 17 assists.Â
