KIRKSVILLE, Mo. — The Upper Iowa Peacocks secured a critical 88-77 road victory over the Truman State Bulldogs Thursday evening at Pershing Arena.
Upper Iowa (8-7, 5-4 GLVC) leaned on a balanced offensive effort led by Mia Huberty's 26 points and 7 rebounds. Kayla Bohr contributed 23 points, while Anna Soler added 9 points and 10 rebounds. The Peacocks used a 9-0 run in the second quarter to race out to a 41-27 advantage.
Truman State (5-13, 2-6 GLVC) saw standout performances from
Jordan Cunningham, who poured in a career-high 29 points, and
Molly Joyce, who chipped in 12. Cunningham was 9-of-22 from the field and 9-of-10 at the free throw line.
Tori Standefer knocked down a pair of three-pointers and had a strong outing with her 10 points.
Upper Iowa shot 55.4% from the field and 38.1% from three-point range, while Truman State hit 43.5% of its shots overall. The Peacocks also won in the paint, outscoring the Bulldogs 34-30.
The Bulldogs will look to bounce back on Saturday as they host Lewis (Ill.) University at 1 p.m.
