QUINCY, Ill. – The Truman State Men's Basketball team won its fourth of five consecutive games decided by four points or fewer in an 80-76 win at Quincy (Ill.) Saturday afternoon.
Down eight with 4:36 remaining in the game, the Bulldogs outscored the Hawks, 16-4, the rest of the way to pick up the victory.
Casen Lawrence kicked off the run with a deep three, one of two the redshirt sophomore would sink in the run, with sophomore guard
Kobi Williams chipping in a three and a layup as the 'Dogs pulled away.
The Purple and White ran out to a 25-14 lead seven minutes and change into the game before a 13-2 Hawk run knotted things at 27 with 3:34 left on the clock. A layup from Quincy's Ethyn Brown gave the Hawks a lead they held until halftime, 40-37. Truman State, down ten with 12:31 left to play, continued chipping away until the Lawrence three sparked the final run of the afternoon for the Bulldogs.
Junior guard
Xavier Hall paced Truman State with 19 points in addition to eight assists and five rebounds. Williams tossed in 17 with six boards and three assists while Lawrence rounded out Bulldogs in double figures with 13. All three guard went a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line with three triples each. Quincy junior guard Camren Kincaid led all scorers with 27.
The Bulldogs, now 11-7 overall, evened their Great Lakes Valley Conference mark at 5-5 while Quincy falls to 8-10 overall, 3-7 GLVC. Truman State returns to action with a 7:30 p.m. tip off at Rockhurst (Mo.) on Thursday, Jan. 30.
