Kansas City, Mo. / Liberty, Mo. – Truman Volleyball wrapped up another Great Lakes Valley Conference road weekend with a split, falling in straight sets to Rockhurst on Friday before bouncing back for a dominant sweep of William Jewell on Saturday. The Bulldogs improved to 9–14 overall and 4–4 in GLVC play.
Rockhurst 3, Truman 0 (25-15, 26-24, 25-23)
Truman battled one of the GLVC's top teams in a competitive three-set match Friday night at Rockhurst.
After the Hawks pulled away late in the opening frame, the Bulldogs responded with their best volleyball in sets two and three. Truman led 23–22 in the second set before Rockhurst survived two set points and edged ahead 26–24. The Bulldogs carried that energy into the third, trading points throughout before the Hawks closed on a 3–1 run to finish it 25–23.
Makayla Way led the attack with seven kills on .353 hitting and added six block assists. Autumn Erickson tallied six kills and a team-best seven total blocks, while Hannah Hosty and Jessie Julius chipped in five kills apiece. Tori Creason dished out 11 assists, Molly Lambert added 12, and Addy Janssen led the back row with 15 digs. Truman out-blocked Rockhurst 10–6 in the match and finished with 22 block assists as a team.
Truman 3, William Jewell 0 (25-11, 25-23, 25-19)
The Bulldogs bounced back in dominant fashion on Saturday, sweeping William Jewell behind one of their most efficient offensive performances of the season.
Truman hit .429 in the first set and never trailed, cruising to a 25–11 win. The second set proved tighter, but timely kills from Laci Neece and Autumn Erickson helped the Bulldogs edge ahead late to take it 25–23. In the third, Truman's serving and blocking kept the Cardinals on their heels, closing the sweep with a 25–19 victory.
Erickson led the way with 10 kills on .769 hitting, while Neece followed with eight and Michaela Goad added six. Creason and Lambert again shared setting duties, combining for 32 assists, and Jessica Proszenyak sparked the service line with four aces. Janssen anchored the defense with 19 digs, while Way recorded five kills and hit .571. Truman finished with 37 kills on .196 hitting and 10 team blocks.
