ELKHART, Ind. - The first full day of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Swimming & Diving Championships wrapped up on Wednesday night. Meg Heveroh brought home the first medal for the Bulldogs with a third-place finish in the 1000-meter freestyle.
The championships started on Tuesday night with both the men's and women's 800-meter free relays. Meg Heveroh, Traube, Kylie Strobl and Emma Harris raced to a fourth place finish with a time of 7:32.88. The team of Sidney Durbin, Taylor Graham, Allison Heaney and Marianne Dean swam 7:53.94 to place 15th overall.
In the men's race, A.J. Kohler, Nicholas Richter, Gavin Bergman and Colin Wolfmeyer closed to a time of 6:55.08, good for 10th. The B-squad of Aiden Moore, Eli Springvloed, Jackson Michals and Will Henderson went 7:14.35 and were 20th.
Tuesday Events:
200 IM: For the women, Sidney Durbin was the highest finisher for the Bulldogs in 29th position and a time of 2:11.81. Three Bulldog men achieved season-best times led by Micah Ragsdell (1:53.92) in 29th place. Drake Durbin (1:55.52) and Ashton Bailey (1:57.84) all had season PRs.
50 Free: Traube swam 23.28 to qualify third in the prelims and 23.24 to finish fifth overall. Jahmia Harley swam a PR 23.98 in the C-Final to place second in the race and 18th overall. Strobl had a season best time in the morning prelims at 24.44 and was seventh in the C-Final and 23rd overall with a time of 24.61. Annabelle Cook and Norma Hrsic has season top times in the event for the women.
For the men, five had season best times. Evan Grinter (21.55), Andrew Greene (21.80), Dawson Behl (22.30), Miles McIntyre (22.51) and Gavin Bergman (22.60). A.J. Kohler placed 25th and just missed the C-Final.
1000 Free: Heveroh was seeded third and swam a season-best time of 10:07.51 to bring home the bronze medal in the event. Ana Williamson (11:18.50) was 18th, Marianne Dean (10:53.97) was 21st, Taylor Graham (10:54.27) was 22nd and Emma Harris (11:00.30) was 23rd) to all score points for the women.
Eli Springvloed (9:53.19) and Peyton Sewell (9:58.39) swam season best times on the men' s side.
Night two closed with the 200-meter Medley relay. Jahmia Harley, Chloe Myers, Sidney Durbin and Layla Walker placed ninth with a time of 1:48.19. Nerma Hrsic, Sophie Ragsdell, Allison Heaney and Taylor Graham went 1:52.11 to finish 17th.
In the men's relay, Dawson Behl, Micah Ragsdell, Miles McIntyre and Cameron Lee swam 1:34.54 to take 10th and Evan Grinter, Ashton Bailey, Aiden Moore and Andrew Greene were 21st with a time of 1:35.09.
Team standings have the men with 86 points and in 10th place while the women scored 211 points and set in sixth position.
The meet continues on Thursday with the 100 Fly, 400 IM, 200 Free and the 400 Medley Relay.
