Huge Home Win For Truman State Women As They Down UMSL

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Bryar Duwe's dagger of a three-pointer with under a minute to play gave the Truman State Women's Basketball a weekend sweep at home with a 67-59 victory over the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

The Bulldogs shot over 60% in the first half and led 37-28 at the half. The Tritons scored six straight in the third quarter but the Bulldogs steadied the ship and scored the final four of the third and first five of the fourth to force an early timeout by the Tritons.

That TO ignited UMSL as they went on a 13-1 run and pulled to 57-56 with 4:37 showing.

It was still a one-point lead at the two-minute mark before Jordan Cunningham and Kaitlyn Patke executed a perfect pick and roll with Patke getting the layup.

Following a turnover on the Triton end, Duwe drilled a three-pointer from the top of the arc to make it a six-point lead at 64-58 with a minute left. From there, the Bulldogs iced the game at the free throw line.

Cunningham scored 14 points in the first half and finished with 19 for the game. Duwe matched her season-high with 17 points and made four three-pointers. The Bulldogs shot 56% for the game and 56% from beyond the arc.

The win denied the Tritons their 20th win of the season and gave the Bulldogs valuable points against a winning team in the Great Lakes Valley Conference points-rating system. The Bulldogs moved into the eighth and final spot following their win over Maryville on Thursday. They will see the updated standings later this evening.

Truman will play at Indianapolis next Thursday before returning home to host William Jewell next Saturday for the regular season finale.
