KIRKSVILLE, MO. - Balanced scoring and strong rebounding led the Truman State Men's Basketball team to a 79-63 win over Drury University on Thursday night. Xavier Hall and Kobi Williams each had 18 points.
It was nearly a wire-to-wire lead for Truman State. After Drury scored first, Trey Shearer and Kobi Williams each connected from distance to start the engine for the Bulldogs.
They would lead by as many as 17 points in the first half and led 43-29 at the break.
Drury would make a push midway through the second and closed to within 10 on a triple from Colin Hardrick at 53-43. Casen Lawrence hit a pair of three-pointers and Hall capped off an 11-0 run with a triple that had some backspin and fell into the hoop to extend the lead out to 19 points.
One last gasp by Drury brought the margin back to 10 with 1:54 left but that would be as close as the Panthers could get.
Hall added six rebounds and six assists to his 18-point effort. Williams had three triples with four rebound and for assists. Brennan Lovette scored 13, making all six field goal attempts and Lawrence finished with 12 on four triples.
Hardrick led all scorers with 26 points for Drury.
The Bulldogs will welcome Southwest Baptist University on Saturday in the second half of a GLVC doubleheader.
