INDIANAPOLIS - The Truman State Track & Field teams celebrated two conference champions at the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday.
Justin Moeller secured his victory in the men's heptathlon by winning the first two events on Sunday and placing fifth in the final event. Moeller took the 60-meter hurdles in 8.32 seconds and the pole vault by clearing 4.30 meters. He finished fifth in the 1000-meter run with a time of 2:51.77. His total of 5,207 points set a Truman State record and ranks him 14th nationally in Division II for the discipline.
Hayden Long earned the silver medal in the heptathlon with 4,747 points. He achieved personal records (PRs) in five of the seven events, including two on Sunday. Long cleared 3.90 meters in the pole vault and ran a personal-best 3:04.88 in the 1000-meter run.
Addie Mathis claimed her first conference championship in the women's mile run. She won with a time of 4:58.19, edging out Indianapolis' Hailey Orosz at the finish line for the gold medal. Mathis also took silver in the women's 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.31.
Four other Bulldog women scored points in the 800-meter run: Lydia Lehmbeck placed fourth (2:19.20), Raina Baker was fifth (2:20.12), and Carmen Gentilia finished seventh (2:21.47).
Additional point earners on Sunday included Addison Walker, who took eighth in the triple jump, and Phoebe Canatsey, who placed eighth in the mile. On the men's side, Tyler Davis and Leithym Messer earned fourth-place finishes in the shot put and weight throw, respectively. Justin McKim placed seventh in the shot put, followed by Hayden Long in eighth. In running events, Gavin Hill finished seventh in the 3,000-meter run.
In the team standings, the Truman State women placed sixth, with Lewis winning the GLVC title. The men finished eighth, while Lincoln claimed their first GLVC championship.
Next up, the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships will select participants before competing March 13-15 back in Indianapolis. Moeller and Mathis are both strong candidates to represent the Bulldogs at nationals.
