PUEBLO, Colo. - Competing in the first round of the women's 1,500-meter run at the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships, Addie Mathis ran a time of 4:45.66 to finish in 20th place.
Mathis completed the first 300 meters in 59.33 seconds and crossed the finish line for the first time in seventh place. She ran 1:10.77 in her next lap around the track, staying within one second of the leader in the colossal heat. She clocked 1:14.37 on the third lap and was in ninth place when the bell sounded.
Her final 400 meters was completed in 1:21.21.
She graduates from Truman State as the record holder in the indoor and outdoor 800-meter runs, the outdoor 1,500-meter run, and as part of the indoor distance medley relay team.
Justin Moeller sits in 10th place after the first five events of the men's decathlon. Moeller ran 11.24 seconds to place 14th in the 100-meter dash, jumped 6.90 meters for eighth place in the long jump, posted 10.97 meters in the shot put for 13th, tied for ninth by clearing 1.90 meters in the high jump, and ran a personal-best 49.72 seconds for eighth in the 400-meter dash.
He accumulated 3,684 points and is 462 points behind the leader and 66 points behind the eighth-place podium spot.
