Kirksville, Mo. – Truman State women's tennis opened the fall season on home courts with an impressive showing at the 2025 Truman Invitational, posting standout results across both singles and doubles competition.
The Bulldogs turned in a balanced effort throughout the weekend, earning multiple victories against competition from Central College and Coe College.
In singles play, Truman picked up momentum behind its newcomers, as all three freshmen secured wins in their first collegiate home matches. Belle Daniels stormed onto the scene with a pair of straight-set victories, including a dominant 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Coe's Cosette Gaines. Rachel Bivens delivered a strong debut as well, earning back-to-back wins highlighted by a 6-4, 6-4 battle against Coe's Makayla Baxter. Leah Weisinger rounded out the trio with authority, dropping only one game across two matches, capped by a commanding 6-0, 6-0 result against Coe's Laura Neumark.
The Bulldogs also picked up key singles victories from MaryGrace Seymour, Himari Maruyama, Amelia Willing, and Alayna Dostal, who each notched multiple wins to keep Truman rolling.
Doubles competition brought more success, with Truman duos controlling play. Seymour and Finley Lagorge went 2-0 on the weekend, while Daniels and Bivens teamed up for a pair of victories, including a 6-1 decision over Coe. The combination of Willing and Weisinger was equally sharp, taking their lone match 6-0.
Overall, the Bulldogs used depth and energy to start the fall campaign on a high note. With both experienced returners and promising newcomers contributing, Truman showcased the type of balance that will fuel the program heading into the rest of the fall season.
The Bulldogs stay home for the beginning of team play against NAIA opponent Grand View on Thursday, September 4th at 3:00 PM. Truman State leads the all-time series 5–1 and enter on a five-match win streak against the Vikings, capped by a 7–0 road sweep in the most recent meeting on Feb. 14, 2025
