Kirksville, Mo. – Truman Volleyball opened conference play in style, earning back-to-back home victories over Maryville and Missouri S&T to start 2–0 in GLVC action. The Bulldogs outlasted Maryville in four sets on Friday night before sweeping Missouri S&T in straight sets on Saturday to close a successful weekend inside Pershing Arena.
Truman 3, Maryville 1 (25-20, 16-25, 28-26, 25-22)
Truman set the tone with a strong first set, hitting .326 as a team to claim a 25–20 set win. Maryville responded in the second, using timely runs to even the match at 1–1.
The third set proved to be the turning point and one of the Bulldogs' grittiest rallies of the season. Maryville led 22–16 and appeared ready to close it out, but Truman stormed back behind clutch serving and defense. Michaela Goad delivered multiple key aces, and Addy Janssen kept rallies alive with several sprawling digs. Autumn Erickson and Laci Neece each added kills during a 6–1 Bulldog surge that cut the deficit to 23–22.
Maryville earned two set points at 24–22, but Truman refused to fold. Erickson hammered back-to-back kills to tie the score, then after trading points, Neece pushed the Bulldogs ahead with another kill. Truman sealed the 28–26 win on a Saints error, completing a stunning comeback and swinging the match momentum.
The Bulldogs carried that energy into the fourth, with balanced scoring from Erickson, Goad, and Lily Porter leading the way in a 25–22 clincher. Erickson finished with a match-high 15 kills on .467 hitting, Neece added 12, and Goad chipped in eight with three aces. Creason and Lambert combined for 51 assists, while Janssen anchored the defense with 24 digs.
Truman 3, Missouri S&T 0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-19)
The Bulldogs carried their momentum into Saturday's match, controlling play from start to finish against the Miners. Truman hit .350 as a team with 46 kills to just 10 errors, highlighted by balanced contributions across the lineup.
Michaela Goad and Hannah Hosty each recorded nine kills, while Erickson and Makayla Way tallied seven apiece. Porter and Neece each added six, giving Truman six different attackers with at least six kills. Setter Tori Creason directed the offense with 20 assists, and the Bulldogs' defense held Missouri S&T to just .093 hitting. Janssen again led the back row with 17 digs, and the Bulldogs totaled 10 blocks in the match.
