KIRKSVILLE, Mo. — Truman State freshman Nick Steurer added another postseason honor to his breakout debut season, earning National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Midwest Region Second Team recognition at designated hitter.
Steurer was one of seven Great Lakes Valley Conference players named to the NCBWA Midwest Region Second Team and was selected as the region's second-team designated hitter.
The regional honor follows a standout freshman campaign in which Steurer was named the GLVC Freshman of the Year and earned All-GLVC Second Team honors. He became just the second Truman State player to receive the league's Freshman of the Year award, joining Kent Frantz, who earned the honor in 2015.
Steurer served as the Bulldogs' most consistent offensive producer throughout the season, hitting .427 across 44 games with 70 hits, 20 doubles, four triples, four home runs, and 32 RBI. He also stole 27 bases on 31 attempts. In GLVC-only play, Steurer ranked third in doubles, fourth in stolen bases, and fifth in batting average among conference hitters.
His 20 doubles also set a new Truman State single-season record, adding another marker to one of the strongest offensive freshman seasons in recent program history.
Truman finished the 2025-26 season at 15-33 overall and 8-24 in GLVC play.
