Truman
2018: If the GLVC had a Comeback Player of the Year Award, it might go to Brooke VunCannon for what she was able to accomplish in 2018 ... VunCannon started 42 of the team's 46 games with 43 appearances at both second base and in the outfield ... after playing in 44 of a possible 50 games as a true freshman, she saw time in just 34 of 63 for her second go-around ... fast forward to 2018 and VunCannon finished with the third-best average on the team at .295 and was above the .300 mark for much of the season ... in the process, she set new career highs in average, at-bats (122), hits (36), RBI (17), slugging percentage (.336), walks (8), on-base percentage (.333), sacrifice flies (2), sacrifice hits (5), stolen bases (7), and turned in a fielding percentage of .962 ... to go with those personal bests, VunCannon also had 13 runs scored and five doubles ... registered 11 multi-hit games (third on the team), three multi-RBI games, a five-game hitting streak, and a reached-base streak of five games as well ... of those 11 multi-hit games, three featured three-hit performances including game two vs. No. 24 Saginaw Valley State on March 4 in the home openers, game two vs. Missouri S&T on March 26 and game one at Bellarmine on April 15 ... during said five-game hitting streak, VunCannon went 9-for-20 (.450 average) at the dish with four runs scored, one double, a walk, and a stolen base.
2017: Played in 34 of the team's 63 games with seven starts, all of which came at second base before Valerie Schmidt took over as the everyday starter at that position ... down the stretch of 2017, VunCannon's role was primarily as a pinch-runner much like Michaela Mooney ... hit ..188 (3-for-16) with 10 runs scored, two RBI, three total bases, one walk, and two stolen bases in two attempts ... went 1-for-4 against Saginaw Valley State on Feb. 17 and 2-for-3 vs. Wayne State College at home on March 1 ... that game against the Wildcats was her most productive of the season as she had those two hits to go with two RBI thanks to RBI singles in both the fourth and fifth innings, one down the right field line and the other right back up the middle.
2016: Appeared in a total of 44 games with 43 starts while hitting .223 (25-for-112) ... registered 14 runs scored, five doubles, two home runs, 10 RBI, and 36 total bases ... turned in a fielding percentage of .969 with just four errors in 129 chances to go with 68 putouts and 57 assists ... was on fire at the plate from March 19-April 2 when she went a combined 13-of-35 (.371) with six runs, five RBI, one double, and one home run ... had two hits in a game five times ... went 2-for-4 with a run scored, two RBI and a double against Quincy on March 29.
High School
From one Truman to another, VunCannon will bring a four-year batting average of .413 to Kirksville after competing at Truman High School near Kansas City. VunCannon was a four-time all-state honoree (first-team as a sophomore and senior) while also adding two-time all-district and three-time all-area accolades after collecting 143 hits in high school with 26 extra-base hits and an OPS of .991. She helped guide her team to the 4A state championship in 2012 and was twice named academic all-state.

Daughter of Dave and Michelle VunCannon ... has one younger brother ... is majoring in Exercise Science ... birthday is August 6.
