Matt White will start his fourth season at the helm of the offensive line in 2022.
In his first season, the unit helped the offense average 215 yards on the ground rushing and an average time of possession of over 33 minutes per game. Jacob VanDoren was one of the anchors of the line and earned first team all-GLVC honors. The unit allowed only seven quarterback sack in 12 games and just 59 tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
In 2020, VanDoren repeated as a first team all-conference lineman and the Bulldogs also had three straight games with a 100-yard rusher in Cody Schrader. The team was successful on third downs 53% of the time.
The Bulldog offensive line led the charge as the team set a school record with 5.78 yards per running play in 2021 and posted the second most yards of total offense (4,866) in school history. The O-line enabled the squad to rush for 2,638 yards and 31 touchdowns while also allowing only 21 quarterback sacks. Three linemen earned all-GLVC honors with Nick Biesemeyer (second team), Dane Eggert (second team) and Justin Watson (honorable mention) named to the team.Â
White is a 2009 graduate of North Carolina State University and has worked with offensive linemen the past two years at Charleston Southern University.
White was in charge of the O-Line at Charleston Southern (NCAA-FCS) last season and had two all-Big South Conference honorees. The Buccaneers were 5-6 in 2018 and averaged 168.5 yards rushing per game. The year before, White was the assistant offensive line coach as CSU finished 6-5 and gained nearly 200 yards on the ground per game. White also recruited the Carolina and Georgia areas as part of his duties.
Prior to Charleston Southern, White was the Offensive Line coach at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, California. In three years with the Gauchos, the team went 19-5 with two conference championships and a State Championship game appearance.Â
White’s first coaching job was as an Offensive Line and Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Huntington Beach High School in California. The team won the 2013 CIF Southern Section Championship for the first team in school history during White’s three-year tenure at the school.
White graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Sports Management. He was a member of the Wolfpack Football team having been a teammate with former Truman assistants Jed Paulson and Jay Davis.
