Truman: 2010 - Started all 11 games … picked off four passes to rank fourth in the MIAA, returning the interceptions for 31 total yards … had 44 tackles to place fifth on the squad including 30 unassisted … had a season-high seven tackles against NWMSU on Sept. 25 … broke up nine passes on the season, including two in games against SJC, FHSU and MWSU … intercepted two passes against PSU on Nov. 6 for four yards … forced a fumble and recorded a TFL against ESU on Oct. 23.

2009 - Started all 11 games at cornerback and ranked fourth on the squad with 58 total tackles, including 2.5 for a loss … picked off two passes and had a 22-yard return against Central Missouri … forced a fumble and returned it for a defensive touchdown against Oklahoma Panhandle State … had nine pass deflections and seven breakups on the year … recorded a season-high 11 tackles against Emporia State … had Truman’s first defensive extra-point off a blocked PAT in program history.

2008 - Had 35 total tackles including two tackles for loss…finished the season with three interceptions which is 3rd on the team and one of them was returned for 27 yards and a touchdown against Fort Hays State…was tied for second on the team in pass break ups with five…also forced a fumble against Missouri S&T.

2007 - Byrd earned the Special teams scout award following the 2007 season...was a two-time scout team player of the week, following games against Missouri S&T and Fort Hays State...named the team’s community involver following Missouri Southern gameweek.

High School - Was a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year in the Houston area, sponsored by the local Touchdown Club … named 2007 Texas Class 5A first-team defense ... was a first team all-district pick and named defensive back of the year by the team … had 49 tackles, 39 solo and forced two fumbles … had a school record seven interceptions last season … helped lead his high school squad to the playoffs for the first time since 1995 … was also starting point guard on the basketball team.
