Todd Lorensen begins his second season as an assistant coach with the Bulldog men's basketball staff in 2012-13, following a three-year stint at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
In his three seasons at UNO, Lorensen helped lead the Mavericks to a 58-29 record and both an MIAA tournament championship and an NCAA tournament appearance in 2010. He coached six all-conference selections, two all-region honorees and an all-American. Under head coach Derrin Hansen, Lorensen’s primary duties included scouting, game preparation, film exchange, travel coordination, directing summer camps and recruiting.
Lorensen moved to Omaha following a one-year stint at his alma mater, Grand View (Iowa) University, where he was the assistant men’s basketball coach and recruiting coordinator. At GVU, he coached three all-conference players, the conference’s newcomer of the year and an all-American. His one recruiting class included two junior college all-Americans that led Grand View to back-to-back conference championships and two NAIA tournament appearances.
A native of Monroe, Iowa, Lorensen played at Quincy (Ill.) University, garnering academic all-conference honors, before transferring to Grand View, where he scored more than 1,000 points in his final three seasons of eligibility. He was a three-time academic all-conference award recipient and led the team in both scoring and assists each of this final two seasons.
He earned his degree from GVU in Business Administration with a certificate in Sports Management. In 2009, he earned his Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) with a Marketing concentration.
