Truman State University Athletics

A seasoned guard with both Division II and junior college experience, Javion Byers comes to Truman after playing 28 games for Northwest Missouri State during the 2024–25 season. The 6-foot-2 senior averaged 7.8 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists for the perennial powerhouse program. He delivered a season-high 23 points against Pittsburg State while knocking down four threes and shooting over 53 percent from the floor. Prior to Northwest, Byers excelled at Lake Region State, averaging 18.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.9 assists with a 31-point outburst that included six three-pointers.

A graduate of Liberty High School, where he earned two all-conference selections, Byers also spent time at Butler Community College early in his career. Coach Worley says, “Ja’Vion comes highly recommended. He plays with great pace and has a high basketball IQ. He’s seldom sped up and always looking to pass first.”
