Biography

2009-2010: Competed in a variety of primarily short-events, finishing top-3 ten times … picked up two 2nd-place finishes, one in the 200 IM (2:02.71) against Iowa and the other in the 200 Fly against Lewis (2:03.10) … put up season-best times in the 200 IM and 400 IM at the NSISC Championships … swam the 100 Fly one time, but broke the 57-second mark … season-best times:

-       100 Back (56.01)

-       100 Fly (56.41)

-       100 Breast (1:01.89)

-       200 IM (1:57.92) – NSISC

-       200 Fly (2:03.10)

-       200 Back (2:03.57)

-       200 Breast (2:11.26)

-       400 IM (4:11.95) – NSISC

-       500 Free (5:15.05)


High School: A two time national qualifier in 100 breast, 200 breast, 200 fly, 200 IM, 400 IM and state champion in 2007, 2008, and 2009 for head swimming coach Bob Rettle at Edwardsville Senior High School.  He was a four year starter and lettered in his last three years. One of his sports thrills was getting second in the 100 breast missing first place by .18 seconds in the YMCA State final.

 

Personal: Birthday is May 3 … the son of Todd Taplin and Amy Koeler … majoring in Nursing
