Ross Arens joined Truman State University as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in 2026.
In his role with the Bulldogs, Arens serves primarily as an athletic trainer for the football program while assisting with the healthcare needs of additional varsity sports. His responsibilities include injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, emergency care, and coordinating return-to-play plans for student-athletes.
Arens arrived at Truman State after serving as an Outreach Athletic Trainer for Methodist Fremont Health in Fremont, Nebraska. In that position, he provided athletic training services for more than 350 high school student-athletes across 11 sports, covering practices and competitions while managing injury evaluations, rehabilitation programs, medical documentation, and physician referrals. He also worked with the Fremont Moo summer collegiate baseball team.
Before beginning his professional career, Arens completed more than 1,000 clinical hours while earning his Master of Athletic Training degree from Midland University. His clinical experiences included working with collegiate and high school athletes in a variety of sports and serving as part of the sports medicine team supporting more than 900 student-athletes at Midland University.
Arens also gained Division I experience during a clinical placement at the University of South Dakota, where he assisted with the care of football, volleyball, and men's and women's basketball student-athletes.
Arens earned a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from the University of South Dakota with minors in Psychology and Interdisciplinary Science before completing his Master of Athletic Training at Midland University.
He is certified by the Board of Certification (BOC) and holds memberships in the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), Mid-America Athletic Trainers' Association (MAATA), and Nebraska State Athletic Trainers' Association (NSATA).
Arens joined the Truman State Sports Medicine staff in 2026 and works closely with coaches, physicians, and fellow athletic trainers to provide comprehensive healthcare and performance support for Bulldog student-athletes.
