Tyson Bochert joined the Truman State football coaching staff in 2026 as the Bulldogs' Running Backs Coach.
At Truman State
Bochert works directly with the Bulldog running backs while assisting with recruiting, offensive scouting, game preparation, player development, and the overall operation of the football program.
He arrived in Kirksville after earning experience at the NCAA Division I level, where he contributed to running back development, recruiting operations, film breakdown, opponent scouting, practice organization, and offensive analytics. His addition to the Truman State staff brings a detail-oriented approach focused on both athletic and personal growth.
Before Truman State
Prior to joining Truman State, Bochert served on the football staff at the University of Northern Colorado, where he worked as Assistant Running Backs Coach and assisted with the slot receivers. His responsibilities included coaching running backs in pass protection and run-game concepts, organizing individual drills, assisting with position meetings, and contributing to offensive game planning.
Bochert played a significant role in recruiting efforts for the Bears, serving as a primary recruiting liaison and helping coordinate official and unofficial visits. He maintained communication with prospective student-athletes and their families, evaluated recruiting prospects, and assisted with roster-building efforts.
Playing Career
Bochert's coaching perspective is shaped by his experience as a collegiate student-athlete. During his playing career, he competed at San Jose City College, McPherson College, and the University of Northern Colorado.
His experience at multiple levels of collegiate football has helped form a coaching philosophy centered on accountability, consistency, discipline, and daily improvement, with an emphasis on preparing student-athletes for success both on and off the field.
Education
Bochert earned his Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 2025.
