October 8, 2010

(IOWA CITY, Iowa) – The Truman swimming teams kicked off their 2010-2011 seasons on Friday night in a dual with Div. I University of Iowa, with the Hawkeyes taking a 159-99 decision on the women's side and a 180-75 final in the men's competition.

The Bulldog women picked up three individual wins, with senior Anna Grinter winning by more than two seconds in the 200 Fly. Junior Jessica Jenkot touched first with a time of 1:07.15 in the 100 Breast, and freshman Casey Jepsen notched a victory in her first collegiate meet with a 1:54.80 mark in the 200 Free.

This is the first of a string of three straight duals to open the season against Division I competition, as the Bulldogs will host both Western Illinois University (Oct. 23) and Missouri State University (Nov. 6) in the coming weeks. The Saturday afternoon dual with WIU is set for a 1pm start in the Pershing Natatorium.
