FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -  Junior forward Breanna Daniels scored 26 points, one off her career high, but the Truman Women's Basketball team came up just short to host Nova Southeastern in the final game of the NSU/Marriott Tip-Off Classic.  The Sharks held off the Bulldogs 73-67 for the win.

Daniels, who named to the all-tournament team, scored 18 of her 26 points in the second half as the  Bulldogs fell behind by as many as 16 points early in the period.

Truman picked up seven team fouls in just 1:53 and found themselves trailing 45-29 at the 16:16 left.

Daniels and senior Cassie Hunt scored the next eight points to bring the Bulldogs back to within eight at the 14 minute mark.

The Sharks extended the lead back to 12 but Daniels knocked down a trey with 8:44 to play to make the score 52-43.

Another Daniels three-pointer with 6:12 to go closed the gap to three points and Hunt again scored on two trips to keep the deficit at one possession with 4:06 remaining.

A 6-0 run capped by 6-5 senior Stephanie Sarosi built the lead back to nine with 2:39 left.  Sarosi finished with 19 points and 13 rebounds.

Amy Galey, Daniels and Bianca Szafarowicz all hit free throws to pull Truman back to three with 1:20 left but Sarosi hit a jumper in the paint with 1:02 to play and a five-point NSU lead.

Abbie Tepe would hit four free throws in the final 30 seconds to preserve the Sharks third straight victory to open the season.

Hunt finished with a career-high 12 points while Szafarowicz had 10 before fouling out.

Truman will play their first game at home next Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. when they host Maryville University.  Due to construction at the Pershing Building, no admission will be charged for the game.
