Balanced Attack For Truman Women Over Southwest Baptist

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Four Truman women scored in double figures with junior Becka McHenry leading the way with 18 points in the Bulldogs 79-54 victory over Southwest Baptist (Mo.) on Wednesday night in Pershing Arena. Truman is now 7-1 for only the fourth time in the program's history and 2-1 in the MIAA.

Freshman Allie Norton (Bloomington, Ill., Central Catholic) went on a personal 8-0 run midway through the first half to break the game open for the Bulldogs. Norton was 5-of-5 in the first half and made all three of her three-point attempts as the Bulldogs went up by a dozen at the 12:05 mark. Senior Breanna Daniels (Ridgedale, Mo., Hollister) closed the half on her own 10-0 run to send the 'Dogs into the locker room up by 13.

The Bulldogs would continue to scorch the nets in the second half as at one point they were shooting 77% from the floor and led by 20 most of the final 20 minutes.

McHenry (Fraser, Mich., Fraser) was 7-of-12 from the floor including a pair of triples for a game-high 18 points with 10 assists. Norton finished with 13, all in the first half and added five assists on the night. Daniels finished with 12 and Jennifer Conway (Waterloo, Ill., Waterloo) added 10 as Truman shot 52% for the game and were 50% (8-of-16) from outside.

Truman also was the beneficiary of 22 Bearcat turnovers on the night and turned them into 28 points while also dominating the inside with 46 points in the paint compared to just 18 for SBU.

Brittney Dukes paced the Bearcats with 12 points.

The Bulldogs will head to nationally ranked Washburn (Kan.) on Saturday afternoon for an early season match-up with the #15th ranked Lady Blues. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. from Topeka.
