ROLLA, Mo. – The Truman men's swimming team lost 114-71 to Missouri University of Science and Technology on Friday night. Jerod Simek picked up the lone event win for the Bulldogs who will swim at Drury University (Mo.) on Saturday.
Simek (O'Fallon, Mo., Fort Zumwalt West) cruised in the 1000 free as he won going away at 9:52.13. His nearest competitor was the Miners' Matt Welsh, who was nearly 20 seconds back.
Brian Tillis (Peoria, Ill., Peoria Notre Dame)got the first place points in the 500 free and Truman's Tony Hernandez (Kansas City, Mo., Raytown) Andrew Tuisl (Clinton, Iowa, Clinton HS) and Lars Winkelmolen (Shawnee, Kan., Shawnee Mission NW HS) scored points in the 100 breaststroke race.
Simek swam lead off in the 200 free relay that closed the dual with the Miners. That relay with Tillis, Destry Newton (St. Louis, Mo., Ladue Horton-Watkins HS) and Sam Collier (Wildwood, Mo., Lafayette HS) finished in 1:36.02.
