HAYS, Kan. – The Fort Hays (Kan.) State University Tigers used 11 second half block shots to defeat Truman 63-56 on Wednesday night on the road. Junior guard Becka McHenry matched her career and season high for the second consecutive game with 24 points. The Bulldogs will take on McKendree (Ill.) in non-conference action on Saturday night on the road.

Katelyn Edwards and Kate Lehman were the one-two punch for the Tigers as Edwards scored 21 points going 8-of-12 from the field and Lehman added 13 points, 11 rebounds and had eight of the Tigers' 12 blocked shots.

The Tigers (16-7; 8-7 MIAA) made nine of their last 11 shots in the first half to take a six-point lead into the locker room and then turned up the defensive pressure in the second half. The game stayed below double digits until Edwards converted on a fast break with 8:45 left.

Truman (12-9; 7-9 MIAA) got as close as five on a three-pointer by
Allie Norton (Bloomington, Ill., Central Catholic) but there was only 20 seconds remaining.

McHenry (Fraser, Mich., Fraser) and senior Breanna Daniels (Ridgedale, Mo., Hollister) total 37 of the team's 56 points and had 15 of the 40 rebounds. McHenry was 10-of-20 from the field with a pair of three-pointers while Daniels was 5-of-12.  However, Truman shot just 32% from the floor and only 27%, aided by the 11 Tiger blocks, in the second half.
