McHenry's 24 Lead 'Dogs To Upset Over #11 Jennies

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Senior Becka McHenry went over 1,000 career points scoring 24, 15 in the second half as Truman upset #11 Central Missouri 73-64 on Saturday afternoon in Pershing Arena. McHenry became the 17th Truman player to reach the milestone as the Bulldogs won their 11th straight home game.
 
Truman (13-3; 6-2 MIAA) took a two-point lead into the locker room then grabbed the advantage for good when Jessica Redd and McHenry sparked an 11-2 run.  Allie Norton's three-pointers pushed lead to double figures with 9:05 to play and back out to eight points at the 5:47 mark.
 
Nicole Caddell, who led Central (13-2; 5-2 MIAA)with 20 points, scored with 41 seconds left to trim the lead to four however the Bulldogs would be perfect from the foul line down the stretch, going six of six to secure the win.
 
It was the fourth time in her career that McHenry topped 24 points in a game and 50th double-figure scoring night for the senior. She was 7-of-12 from the field with six assists, two steals and 8-of-10 from the foul line.
 
Norton made all three of her three-point attempts in the second half to finish with 18. Truman made 8-of-20 from outside and won the rebounding battle 34-31.
 
The Bulldogs will close out the homestand with visits by the University of Nebraska-Kearney on Thursday night (5:30 p.m. ) and nationally ranked Fort Hays (Kan.) State on Saturday (1:00 p.m.).
