ST. CHARLES, Mo. - - The Truman men's basketball team topped the 80-point mark for the second straight game and got a team-high 20 points from sophomore Seth Jackson, but the Lindenwood Lions out-rebounded the Bulldogs by 19 and shot 56% from the field to defeat Truman 96-82 on Saturday afternoon.

Jackson paced the Bulldogs in the early going, converting a pair of old-fashioned three-point plays and a pair of emphatic dunks for 10 quick points in the first eight and a half minutes. Truman and Lindenwood were tied at 17-17 at the 11:35 mark of the opening frame before the Lions opened a nine point lead, 28-19, during the next four minutes of action.

The Bulldogs would claw back, however, creeping to within three at 33-30 behind split free throws by freshman Jaylon Jones  but the Lions hit the gas before the break, rattling off a 16-5 run in front of halftime to carry a 49-35 lead into the intermission.

The second half was all offense for both teams, with Truman shooting 49% overall in the final 20 minutes, including six triples, but still could only match the 47-point output by the host Lions, who opened the half by hitting 13 of its first 16 shots from the floor. Senior Tom Norton scored all 13 of his points in the second half, while freshman Cory Myers poured in ten of his 14 in the final 20 minutes. Myers also finished with a team-high eight assists on the afternoon.

For the game, Jackson led Truman with an 8-for-11 afternoon from the floor, including a 4-for-4 mark from the line, for 20 points, with junior Mike Carlson chipping in 17 points behind 7-for-11 shooting, a pair of three-pointers and a free throw. The Bulldogs turned it over just six times but fell victim to 13 offensive rebounds for the Lions and a 41-22 overall edge on the glass for the home team.

Alex Bazzell had 22 points and 11 assists for the Lions, while both Richie Thompson and Brett Thompson finished with 18 points apiece.

Truman returns to action on Thursday (Jan. 10) night, kick-starting back-to-back home games with a 7:30 pm tipoff against Central Oklahoma in Pershing Arena.
