Bulldogs Pull Away In Second For Tenth Win Of Season

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – After another tight first half, the Truman Women's Basketball team used their defense and strong three-point shooting to win their tenth game of the season and third conference game by defeating Lindenwood (Mo.) University 86-65 on Saturday afternoon.
 
Truman (10-2; 3-1 MIAA) trailed by five late in the first half but closed the period with a 13-4 run to take a four-point lead into the locker room.
 
The Bulldogs then exploded for 49 second half points as the team continued it torrid shooting for long range. Truman made 6-of-8 bombs in the final 20 minutes and finished the game 12-of-19 (63.2%) from outside the arc to cruise to victory.
 
Truman finished the week going 28-of-36 (77%) from three in the second half of the three games played.
 
Becka McHenry led Truman with 20 points in 26 minutes of action while Amy Briggs knocked down four of her five three-point attempts to match her season-high of 16 points.
 
The Bulldogs came into the game leading Division II in both overall field goal shooting percentage and three-point shooting percentage and were well above those averages in the game.
 
Julie Hlink led three Lions (3-8; 0-3 MIAA) in double-figures with 15 points while Caroline Bourlioux finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Truman will play five of their next six at home beginning on Thursday night against the University of Central Oklahoma at 5:30 p.m.
