Swimming Goes 3-1 in Saturday Action

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - The Truman swimming teams posted a combined 3-1 record in four split-dual meets on Saturday afternoon, as the Bulldog women were nearly perfect in first-place finishes, while the men picked up a split.

The Bulldog women took home first place in 13 of the 14 events to defeat William Jewell 199-58 and polish off Maryville by a 235-16 score. On the men's side, Etienne Thro dominated the Butterfly events, grabbing two first-place finishes of his own, as Truman held off WJC 139-126 but fell 196-66 to Div. I St. Louis University.

Truman dominated the women's side, as Hannah Nicks brought home four first-place finishes - three as an individual (100 Back, 59.76; 200 Back, 2:09.14; 200 IM, 2:14.50) and one as part of the 200 Medley Relay (1:51.55), while Margaux Kent, Beth Eyanson, Casey Jepsen, Abby Hempen, Alison Strickler, Brynn Guardado, and Bailey Peterson each brought home two first-place touches.


On the men's side, Thro cruised in the 100 and 200 Fly, touching the wall first with times of 52.75 and 1:59.59 respectively.

The Bulldogs will hit the road for an afternoon dual next Saturday (Nov. 2), when the squads visit Div. I program Western Illinois in Macomb. Start time is set for 2:00 pm.
