Women Bounce Back With Win Over Trevecca Nazarene

NASHVILLE – Truman guards Amy Briggs and Allie Norton combine for 37 points as the Bulldogs defeated Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) 82-70 to earn a split at the Pops Duncan Classic on Saturday.
 
After spotting the host Trojans (2-2) the first basket of the second half and their largest lead of the game at 46-41, Truman (4-1) reeled off 12 straight points to take control of the contest. The Bulldogs at one point outscored Trevecca Nazarene 25-7 in the period and led by as many as 15 with 10 minutes to play.
 
Briggs scored 13 points in the first half and added eight more in the second on 7-of-11 shooting and four of five from outside the arc. Norton made three three-pointers and tied Nicole Gloor with game-high honors in boards with five.
 
Gloor scored 13 points with 11 (11-of-14) coming via the free throw line and Truman as a team were 31-of-38 from the charity stripe. The 31 free throws made were the second most in the program's history trailing only the school record of 40 makes against Kentucky State in 2001. The 38 attempts tied for fourth most in a Truman single-game.
 
The Bulldogs will return to the floor in Pershing Arena on Tuesday evening with a 5:30 p.m. start against Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) College.
