Bulldogs Pick Up Season Sweep Of Lindenwood

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman Women's Basketball team closed out a perfect regular season at Pershing Arena with a 74-50 romp over Lindenwood (Mo.) University on Senior night. Allie Norton connected on five three-pointers and the Truman defense blocked eight shots while picking up their 15th straight home win dating back to last season.
 
The Bulldogs (18-5; 11-4 MIAA) put the game away early racing out to a 24-4 lead over the first 11 minutes of the game. The Lions (4-20; 1-15 MIAA) would get to 11 on a pair of occasions only to see the Bulldogs get three-point plays on the ensuing possessions.
 
Norton made five of seven three-point attempts to finish with a game-high 15 points while senior Jennifer Conway added 10 with two blocks. Fellow senior Megan Sharpe was four for four from the field for nine points with three blocks and four steals in 22 minutes.
 
The final senior, Becka McHenry, had a lucky seven night with seven points, seven rebounds and dished out seven assists.
 
Truman shot 51.9% as a team and 57.1% from three. They increased their Division II national leading average from behind the arc to 42.7%.
 
The Lions got 20 points from leading scorer Julie Hlinak and 10 points from Sarah Schnieders as Lindenwood lost their 11th straight game.
 
The Bulldogs have now won the most regular season games since the 1998-99 season and moved into a tie for fourth place in the league.  They will play the final three regular season games on the road beginning on Saturday afternoon at Lincoln (Mo.) University in Jefferson City.
