Boedeker & McCarroll Selected Capital One Academic All-America

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Seniors Debbie Boedeker and Rachel McCarroll of the Truman Women's Track & Field team have been named to the Capital One Academic All-America team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
 
Boedeker (Florissant, Mo./McClure North HS) was named to the second team Academic All-America team and had a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average while majoring in Math at Truman. She earned the Dean's Academic Excellence Award for being the senior with the top cumulative grade-point average among Truman female student-athletes this year and ran the 3000 meter steeplechase during the outdoor season and the mile run in the indoor season.  She was also a member of the Bulldog Cross Country team. Boedeker has been named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and is an MIAA Scholar-Athlete.
 
McCarroll (Lawson, Mo./Excelsior Springs HS) was a third team Academic All-America selection while earning All-America honors in the weight throw at the 2013 NCAA Indoor Championships with a sixth place finish and broke the conference and school record in the weight throw during while winning the MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. During the outdoor season, McCarroll competed in the shot, discus and hammer and finished fifth in the Hammer at the MIAA Outdoor Championships. She has a 3.59 grade-point average while majoring in Physics.
 
To qualify for the Capital One Academic All-America team a student-athlete must be a sophomore or older in athletic eligibility, have a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or key reserve on their team.

Truman State University has produced 105 Academic All-Americans, the most by any NCAA Division II school and among the top 25 of all four-year schools.
