EAST PEORIA, Ill. - - Senior Allie Brak led all players with 25 kills, as the Great Lakes Valley Conference's top-seeded Truman State University volleyball squad recovered from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Missouri S&T 3-2 (-15, 19-25, 21-25, -19, 15-8) in the semifinals of the league's conference tournament on Friday night at the EastSide Centre.

The Bulldogs (27-3) held S&T (18-13) to a -.067 hitting line in the final set, while five different players put away kills to send Truman to its second straight GLVC championship match. It will be a battle of the league's two purple squads on Saturday at 12 p.m., as the Bulldogs will face McKendree for the league's championship tournament title. The Bearcats defeated Indianapolis 3-0 in the first semifinal on Friday afternoon.

On Friday night, the first three sets played out a similar storyline – just with different roles – as Truman jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the opening set before cruising to a 25-15 victory. The Bulldogs dominated offensively in the frame, putting down 21 kills and hitting .444 as a team.

However, sets two and three were all S&T, as the Miners rebounded and built early leads of 15-4 (set two) and 8-3 (set three) to put a gap between themselves and Truman. While the second set never saw Truman close to within more than three, the Bulldogs did eventually tie the third set at 18-all. After the squads played to a 19-19 tie just two points later, S&T rattled off five in a row, and then converted on its third set point try to go up 2-1 in the match with a 25-21 decision.

The fourth set was much tighter throughout, as the teams traded the lead twice and were tied six times, all the way to 17-17. But from there, Truman came through in the clutch – winning eight of the set's final 10 points to force a deciding fifth frame with a 25-19 victory.

In the fifth, the Bulldogs and Miners traded the first four points, before Truman took what would be its final lead of the night at 4-3. S&T would be as close as 7-5, but then never again within three (11-8), as Truman won the final four points of the match – including back-to-back double blocks by Abby Heise and Emilee Walters to propel the 'Dogs into the title match.

Brak was nearly unstoppable on the night, as the conference's Player of the Year went off for a season-high 25 kills on a .404 hitting line and 14 digs. Kayla Bastian added a 14-kill, 20-dig double-double of her own, with senior Meghan Zimmerman posting a 57-assist, 10-dig double-double as well.

Heise finished with 10 kills and five blocks, with her primary net partner – junior Ali Patterson – finishing with nine kills and seven blocks. Walters added six kills and three blocks, while both senior Abby Moser (28) and junior Sidney King (10) patrolled the back line to a tune of double-figure digs.

Truman hit .271 as a team for the match, as the Bulldogs committed just 15 attack errors on 188 total swings. The Bulldogs served three aces and totaled 10 team blocks at the net, as the purple and white clamped down defensively late to hold S&T to a cumulative hitting line of .193.

Gracey Moon finished with 22 kills and five blocks for S&T, while Jackie Pyles led all players with 29 digs.
