Volleyball Recap: Truman 3, Maryville 0

ST. LOUIS - - The Truman volleyball team hit .324 and committed just seven attack errors in a three-set sweep of Maryville (Mo.) on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs won by set scores of 25-18, 25-11, and 25-12, to win their eighth straight and improve to 10-2 (6-0 GLVC) on the season.

The Bulldogs' top four kill leaders each hit better than .230 on the day, highlighted by a 12-kill effort from Allie Brak and a nine-kill, five-block outing by Ali Patterson. Patterson completed a flawless weekend, as she didn't commit an error on 14 swings in Saturday's match after going for 17 kills with no errors on 37 swings at Missouri-St. Louis on Friday night.

Meanwhile, Kayla Bastian added eight kills and a .318 hitting line, and Meghan Zimmerman finished with a fourth straight double-double of 32 assists and 12 digs. Abby Moser led all 'Dogs with 13 digs along the back line.

"We played really well today, because we were able to take Maryville out of what they wanted to do with our serving," head coach Ben Briney said. "The hard work we are putting in at practice is really paying off. We have a short turnaround to get ready for a good Quincy team on Tuesday at home."

The Bulldog attack was clicking all afternoon, as Truman posted just one set with a sub-.300 hitting line (.294 in the second), while the squad sided-out at a 79 percent rate to limit any long Maryville (6-6, 2-4 GLVC) runs. The Saints hit just .038 for the match, committing 23 attack errors next to 27 team kills.

Truman's eight-match win streak makes them the first in the conference to reach the 10-win plateau, with the squad's six league wins in as many tries also leading the 16-team conference.

The Bulldogs return to Pershing Arena on Tuesday night to kick off a three-match homestand, beginning with the Quincy Hawks at 7 p.m. on Sept. 30.
