Women's Soccer Recap: Truman 2, Missouri S&T 0

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - A pair of first half goals provided the Truman women's soccer team all the cushion it would need on Sunday afternoon, as the Bulldogs picked up a 2-0 home conference victory against Missouri S&T at the Bulldog Soccer Park.
 
Lauren Seawright's 11th-minute conversion off a Melanie Hunt free kick preceded Alexis Heffernan's team-leading seventh goal of the year in the 33rd minute from an Allie McDonell through-ball, as Truman built a 2-0 halftime advantage.
 
The second half was more split in possession, with Missouri S&T (2-6, 2-4 GLVC) putting four shots on Bulldog (7-2, 5-1 GLVC) keeper Katie Mattingly, who entered at the intermission in relief of starting keeper Nicole Sparks. The duo combined for the Bulldogs' fifth shutout victory of the season, as the team's starting back four of Megan Whitehead, Jessica Hanson, Caity Schmitt, and Seawright limited the Lady Miner offense to six shots on the day.

Heffernan led all Bulldogs with three shots, with Seawright and Hunt each adding two apiece.
 
Truman returns to action next Friday (Oct. 3) with a 12 p.m. contest at William Jewell (Mo.) in Liberty.
