Aloha Bulldogs Leave Hawaii With Win

HONOLULU – A blistering start by the Truman Women propelled them to a 69-44 victory over Southern Wesleyan in the final game of the Oahu Christmas Classic on Friday afternoon. Michalina Tomczak, Cassidy Clark and Mackenzie Jerks all scored in double figures for the Bulldogs.

After giving up the first basket of the game, Truman scored 11 straight points and had a 19-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. Six Bulldogs scored and the team held Warriors to 2-of-17 shooting (11.8%) in the opening stanza.

The Bulldogs scored the final 13 points to end the first half with a 36-13 lead and didn't look back from there. The lead would climb to as many as 26 points on two separate occasions.

Not only were the Bulldogs dominate in the scoring column, they controlled the glass as well. Truman pulled down 61 total rebounds, fourth most in single-game history and had a rebounding margin of +26 during the game. The Warriors shot 24.6% overall going 15-of-61 for the game.

Tomczak finished with 14 points and nine rebounds with Clark adding 11 points and eight boards. Jerks topped double-digits for the first time in her young Truman career with 10 points and had two of the Bulldogs' three, three-pointers. Ashley Hartwig and Courtney Strait also pulled down eight boards apiece.

The Bulldogs will be off until the New Year when they travel to the University of Missouri-St. Louis for a non-conference game against the Tritons on January 2^nd. It will be the first of two against the Tritons as they will meet 18 days later in Kirksville for a GLVC game.
