LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - The Truman softball team closed a four-game weekend trip through Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division foes Southern Indiana and Bellarmine with a 2-2 record, picking up a sweep of BU on Saturday after falling twice to No. 15 USI on Friday afternoon.

With the results, Truman now sits at 29-11 (18-6 GLVC) with one weekend of regular season action left in the 2015 season. The Bulldogs have clinched a GLVC tournament berth and currently sit fourth in the league standings – sandwiched between USI (third) and BU (fifth).

During the four-game trip, senior first baseman Liz Leath batted .500 with seven hits in 14 at-bats, including a triple and her 11th home run of the season. Freshman Kadie Orenstein (.429) and senior Ally McReynolds (.417) also topped the .400-mark offensively, while junior Kelsea Dorsey picked up a win and a save after pitching in all four games.

The Bulldogs, who sat eighth in the NCAA Midwest regional rankings entering the weekend, will return home next Saturday and Sunday to face Saint Joseph's (Ind.) and No. 10 Indianapolis at the Truman Softball Park. First pitches both days are set for 12 p.m.

USI Recap
No. 15 Southern Indiana came-from-behind in game one, then prevented the Bulldogs from doing the same in game two, as the Screaming Eagles picked up 4-3 and 6-4 wins against Truman on Friday afternoon in Evansville, Ind.

The Bulldogs led 3-0 in game one, getting single runs in the first, second, and fourth innings, before USI plated three in the fifth on a bases-clearing double to tie the score. Then, in the sixth, the Screaming Eagles pushed across the go-ahead run, before Truman left two runners aboard in the top of the seventh looking to tie or pull ahead. Freshman Jamie Fowle (2-for-3, 2 runs) and Leath (2-for-4, RBI) led the Bulldogs in game one, while Dorsey picked up the loss after pitching 1.2 innings of relief and giving up one unearned run. Kindra Henze started and went 4.1 innings, striking out two.

Then, in game two, USI took a 3-1 lead through the first two innings and led 4-1 before Truman retaliated with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth on an Andrea Klipsch two-run home run. However, USI answered with two of their own in the bottom half, before Truman scored one and left the bases loaded in the top of the seventh. Klipsch totaled three RBI in the game, while Fowle notched another multi-hit game with a 2-for-4 outing. Dorsey started and took the loss after pitching four innings of four-run ball, with Henze finishing the final two innings in relief.

BU Recap
The Bulldogs rallied on day two of the road trip to snare a pair of one-run victories at Bellarmine's Knights Field, as Truman took game one, 4-3, before winning game two by a 2-1 score.

Game one required some late-game heroics, as BU carried a 2-1 lead into the seventh inning. Two singles to open the inning led to a McReynolds game-tying single with one out. Then, two batters later with two outs, Haley Wells singled to left and went all the way to third when the ball was misplayed by the BU left fielder. That permitted McReynolds and pinch-runner Riley Cook to score, giving Truman a 4-2 lead. The Knights would get an RBI single in the bottom half and load the bases for cleanup hitter Scarlett Powers, but Dorsey recorded a strikeout and ended the game with her second save of the season on her only batter faced. Whitney Richardson recorded three base hits, while Leath, McReynolds, and Wells also notched two-hit games. Henze picked up her 15th win of the season, pitching 6.2 innings and striking out three, while the squad handed Ally Foster her third loss (17-3) of the year.

Then, in game two, a great pitcher's duel between Dorsey and Miller commenced, with Truman taking an early 1-0 lead on a Leath blast, before BU evened the score at one-all with a single run in the fourth. But then, in the seventh inning again, Truman pushed across the go-ahead run, as Orenstein singled with one out to score McReynolds, who led off the inning with a single of her own. Dorsey then worked around a one-out walk in the home half to finish the complete game, earning her 14th win of the season. She allowed just four hits and struck out two, with the lone run coming as unearned. McReynolds went 3-for-3 at the play, while Leath added two more hits as part of Truman's six total in the game.
