Softball Season Ends with NCAA Tournament Loss

INDIANAPOLIS - - The 2015 Truman softball season came to a close on Saturday afternoon, as the Bulldogs couldn't overcome an early two-run deficit and fell 3-1 against Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) in Midwest regional No. 2.

TNU (39-9) scored twice in the first, before the squads traded runs in the third for the only scoring on the day. Truman's Lex Van Nostrand doubled home freshman Riley Cook in the top of the third to briefly cut the Trojan lead to 2-1; however, Trevecca quickly answered with a single run in the home half to push the margin back to two.

Truman (33-16) had five hits on the day, with Van Nostrand, senior Andrea Klipsch, senior Liz Leath, senior Ally McReynolds, and Cook each providing a base-knock. Junior Kindra Henze started and fell to 16-10 on the season, as she gave up three earned runs in 4.1 innings of work. Junior Kelsea Dorsey entered in relief and pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless ball.

The Bulldogs – who lose a four-player senior class of Klipsch, Leath, McReynolds, and Hannah Wehar – reached the NCAA tournament for the second time in as many seasons under the direction of head coach Erin Brown. The 2016 season will begin next February.
