Men's Soccer Falls to Parkside

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - Despite owning strong advantages in both total shots and corner kicks, the Truman men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Wisconsin-Parkside on Sunday afternoon at the Bulldog Soccer Park.

Match Breakdown:
  • The Bulldogs controlled action for the first 25 minutes of the match, forcing four saves and earning two corner kicks as possession presided primarily in the Parkside end.
  • UWP struck first with 16 minutes precisely to play in the first half, as Nicolai headed home a Henderson pass after play progressed down the right side of the field.
  • Truman had two more chances turned away before the halftime whistle and started the second half by hitting two different posts in eight seconds, as Trevor Kaufmann and John Lee were denied.
  • Parkside countered in the 65th minute, and a through ball from Colin was controlled by Garcia and slotted into the bottom left corner of the net for a 2-0 lead.
  • Garcia then put the final touch of insurance on the match in the 84th minute, as his finish just got through the hands of Bulldog keeper Drew Orf
  • The Bulldogs out-shot UWP 14-7 overall and took six corners to Parkside's two.

Extra Note:
  • Truman now holds a 9-7 edge in the all-time series, with Sunday serving as the 16th meeting between the schools.
 
Up Next:
The Bulldogs hit the road for two matches next weekend, beginning on Friday, Sept. 25 at Indianapolis. Kickoff against the Greyhounds is slated for 6:30 p.m. (CT).
