KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Despite a time and venue change, the Truman men's soccer team picked up a much-needed win over Saint Joseph's on Friday night thanks to a score of 1-0 at Kirksville High School's Spainhower Field.
With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 5-5-1 overall and 3-5 in the GLVC while the Pumas fell to 1-9 on the season and 1-7 in league play.
24 minutes and 32 seconds into a scoreless match,
Craig McLaurine (pictured) broke through for Truman with a goal on a free kick from 25 yards out. That score marked McLaurine's team-leading third goal of the season and seventh of his career.
In goal,
Jory Knernschield got the start and played the first half while
Zac Suazo came in for the second period. Knernschield earned his first win of the season and fourth of his career with one save on three shots faced. Suazo also had one save, but on six shots faced.
When looking at the team statistics, the home team led in shots (14-9), shots on goal (5-2) and corner kicks (7-1).
Next up, Truman will host Indianpolis on Sunday with kickoff set for 2:30 p.m. at Bulldog Soccer Park.
