PDF Box Score

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Truman Women's Basketball team opened up their exhibition season with a 72-62 loss at Missouri State University on Tuesday. Freshman Sloan Totta led the Bulldogs with 16 points.

Totta was 5-of-11 from the field with four three-pointers in a team-high 32 minutes in her Bulldog debut.

Totta was joined in double figure scoring by Brooke Bailey with 14 and Rachel Edmundson with 10.

The Bulldogs trailed seven at the end of the first quarter but scored 11 of the first 13 points to start the second quarter to take their only lead of the game at 21-19. The run was sparked by three triples, by Edmundson, Totta and Ashley Hartwig.

That was the last hoop by the Bulldogs of the half as Missouri State responded with a 13-0 run to lead 32-21 at the break.

MSU would score the first bucket of the third quarter before Hartwig stopped the run with another three pointer.

The Lady Bears extended their lead out to 25 points early in the fourth quarter but Truman battled back and outscored Missouri State 25-10 in the final 10 minutes.

Of Truman's 20 made field goals, 13 came from outside on 33 three-point attempts.

Truman's next exhibition game will be next Monday at the University of Missouri in Columbia.
