KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The post Thanksgiving desert for the Truman Women's Basketball team will be a pair of games as part of the Drury Thanksgiving Classic in Springfield, Missouri. The Bulldogs will take their shot against the #2 team in Division II, Emporia State on Friday night before finishing the tourney with Oklahoma Panhandle State on Saturday. Both games tip off at 7:45 p.m.
Truman is 3-2 on the season after having their three-game winning streak stopped on Tuesday night in Joplin to Missouri Southern State University 94-88. The two teams were tied at half but an 11-1 run to start the fourth quarter was too much for the Bulldogs to overcome.
Rachel Edmundson continued her scoring hot streak with a career-high 27 points on 8-of-10 from beyond the arc.
Edmundson leads Truman in scoring at 14.6 points per game while making 11-of-20 attempts from long range. She has been in double-figure scoring the last three games with 18 and 27 points in her last two outings.
Brooke Bailey is second in scoring at 11 points a night and leads the team in triples made with 13.
As a team, Truman has made nearly double the amount of three-pointers than their opponents (43-22) and shoot 36% from outside with 8.6 triples a contest. Overall, Truman is shooting 39% from the floor and 77% from the foul line while averaging 74.2 points per game.
On the defensive end, opponents are shooting 36% overall, 22% from three and 76% from the line while averaging 61.4 points per game.
Head Coach
Amy Eagan is in her fourth season at Truman and has a record of 61-32. Eagan was an All-American for the Bulldogs in the 1998-99 season and was inducted into the Truman Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012. She was a four-time all-MIAA guard for the Bulldogs and is fourth on the Truman all-time scoring list with 1,527 points in 100 games played.

The former MIAA foes will meet for the first time since the Lady Hornets ended the Bulldogs run in the conference in 2013…ESU downed Truman 61-56 in the quarterfinals of the MIAA Tournament that season in which it was the last game the Bulldogs played in that league, moving to the Great Lakes Valley Conference the following season…Emporia is 43-8 all-time against Truman…The Bulldogs last win against the Lady Hornets was that same 2013 season in which they won 78-58 in Pershing Arena…The Lady Hornets are ranked #2 in the latest USA Today/WBCA Division II Coaches poll with a 4-0 record and have throttled opponents with an average margin of victory of 55.5 points per game…ESU has scored over 100 points in three of their four games played and average 104.8 per night while giving up only 49.2 per game…seven players average in double figures led by Addie Lackey…the Lady Hornets shoot 49% from the field, 37% from three and average 22 more rebounds than their foes…ESU was 28-6 last season but lost in the NCAA Central regional title game to Pittsburg State 78-74.

On Saturday night, Truman will tip off against Oklahoma Panhandle State for the first time since the 1985-86 season…The Aggies will play the host Lady Panthers of Drury on Friday prior to Truman's game with Emporia State…OPSU is 1-2 on the season and were 2-24 last year…The Aggies average 60 points offensively and 67 points defensively shooting 35% overall and 20% from three…they have averaged over 21 turnovers per night…three players average in double figures for OPSU led by Addison Munsch at 11.7 points per game…Darby Price (10.3) and Taylor Acosta (10.0) are the other scoring leaders for OPSU…Munsch is shooting 72% from the floor (13-of-18) with a three-pointer to her credit…opponents are shooting 44% from beyond the arc against OPSU making 22-of-49 attempts…the last meeting between Truman and OPSU was November 30, 1985 in Topeka, Kansas with the Aggies winning 57-53.

Conference play opens up next weekend with a swing through Kansas City. The Bulldogs will be at Rockhurst on Thursday and William Jewell on Saturday to start Great Lakes Valley Conference action. The Hawks were picked right behind the Bulldogs in the preseason coaches poll with Truman getting 84 points to Rockhurst's 82. Jewell was picked seventh in the conference poll in the West Division. Truman will play three GLVC games prior to the Christmas/New Years break.
