KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – A huge early season showdown with the Quincy Lady Hawks is the only action for the Truman Women's Basketball team this week. The Bulldogs and Lady Hawks are each searching for their first conference win when they meet on Saturday afternoon in QU's Pepsi Arena.

Both teams came up empty on their trip through the Kansas City area last weekend to open up Great Lakes Valley Conference action. The Bulldogs were defeated by Rockhurst 72-67 and William Jewell 68-63 while the Lady Hawks fell to Rockhurst 76-54 and 61-43 to the Cardinals.

Quincy stepped outside of conference action and won on Tuesday night at home over Hannibal-LaGrange 90-52 behind eight three-pointers by Nikia Edom. The win halted a three-game skid for the Lady Hawks.
Both Truman and Quincy have had plenty of meetings over the past few seasons (eight games over the past three years) but have also had five common opponents this year. The Lady Hawks are 0-5 over Grand Valley State, Northern Michigan, Missouri Southern, William Jewell and Rockhurst while the Bulldogs are 1-4 over the same group with the win coming against Grand Valley State.

Truman is coming off their first empty conference weekend since February of 2015. It was only the second time since joining the league in 2013 that the Bulldogs were winless on a GLVC road trip. The other two winless weekends came on split trips where Truman played at home on one of the two days and went out on the road for the other game. The last time Truman lost both ends of a road trip in conference was on a trip to Bellarmine and Southern Indiana.

After not having any 20+ individual scoring games last season, the Bulldogs already have four nights this year in which either Rachel Edmundson or Cassidy Clark have scored over 20 points. Edmundson scored 27 against Missouri Southern and 20 in the last game against William Jewell and leads Truman in scoring at 13.9 points per game. Clark has the Bulldogs top scoring game at 29 against Emporia State and tallied 23 against Rockhurst last Thursday. Clark is averaging 13.8 points and a team-leading 8.6 rebounds per game. She is fourth in the GLVC in boards per game.

Truman is averaging 73.7 points per game while giving up 65.0. The team is shooting 41% overall, 32% from three with 6.6 three-pointers made per game and 73% from the foul line with 14.7 free throws made per game. Opponents are shooting 39% from the field, 28% from three (5.8/game) and 70% at the line (11.9/game).
